Dream definition has always been important to humans because dreams have fascinated human beings for tens of thousands of years. Are they just creations of our subconscious, creations of our imagination, or are they messages from a mysterious beyond? The ancients believed that dreams were messages from some unknown power, messages sent by friendly or unfriendly gods, or angels, or other divine or semi-divine entities.
These are well known dream facts. In ancient times people believed that the messages one saw in a dream, properly interpreted, could have serious connotations for one’s life and for one’s destiny. Dream definition traditionally was always carried out by a specialized practitioner.
Today, of course, people are far more scientific and a great deal more cynical, but even the most cynical of us will accept that dreams certainly spring from the subconscious, and therefore have a very real significance in our lives. But for those with a deeper understanding of the Universe it is known that there are people with special intuition or psychic ability, to whom dream definition is a personal art, and who can interpret the hidden meanings behind dreams.
This school of thought subscribes to the ancient belief that dreams are more than even a message from our own minds, but rather are a message from some higher power in the Universe that perhaps we do not even completely understand, but whose concepts and messages are worth listening to, because they have a deep significance in our lives.

So how do you go about dream definition, or interpreting dreams? Well, dreams can usually be interpreted by an expert who has a natural gift for dream interpretation, and who perhaps also has a great deal of experience, but you can try your own hand at dream interpretation.
When you go about doing a dream translation, you need to understand that different things that appear in your dreams stand for different concepts. For example, men in your dreams stand for the forces of logic, of reason, the functioning of the conscious mind.
A woman in your dream could stand for the subconscious, your inner intuition, and your deep feelings of inner self that partially motivate your actions. A child in a dream is a symbol of innocence and perhaps even of naiveté.
If it is your own children in a dream, it stands for your creativity, because your children are a creation of yourself, perhaps your greatest creation. If your parents appear in your dream or speak to you, or even just happened to be in the dream itself, this is a symbol of the source of your identity.
On the other hand, if other people appear in a dream, you need to think about what exactly that person means to you and what place that person has in your life. We are all mirrors, you see, and we all tend to reflect one another, so it may be that in the image of another you merely see yourself.
There are other things in dreams that have certain significance. Places have certain significance, for example. Different buildings can represent not just a physical location, but actually different aspects of your inner being, of your inner personality. Houses are extremely important. A house actually stands for yourself, your subconscious, your inner universe.
Then there’s the backyard, which generally stands for the past, whereas the yard in front of the house stands for the future. If an incident in a dream occurs in the backyard or the yard in front of the house in a dream, you may understand that this incident resides either in the future or in the past, depending upon the location.
If an incident is seen from a window, it is providing you with perspective on some issue. If it happens in a doorway, it represents a path to a certain goal.
Educational institutions like a university or a school obviously stand for learning, for advancement, but many of these things should be taken in the context of the entire episode or incident, and it depends upon how you feel to a great extent.
Similarly, if an incident occurs at your place of employment, it has some connotation for your work, obviously, and it might be telling you that you either need to move on or take some particular action at the workplace.
A house of religious worship stands for one’s quest for enlightenment and spirituality, and it may signify that there’s some opportunity open to you to better yourself spiritually or else, that there’s some pitfall before you.
Everything means something, and if you cannot fully interpret a complex dream, remembers that there are insightful and gifted people who can.
